NOLA Knights

What the stories don't mention..

The ‘adventure’ was over. What started as a simple escort job for some quick gold turned out to be the fickle hand of the gods, or fate, giving you the opportunity to be forged into something more. Now you’ve all gotten a taste of what being a ‘hero’ really meant. Not just the stories and songs Thespiana sings lately by the tavern fire, but the true and unpolished reality.

You all returned and tried to quickly fall back into familiar patterns but now everything is different. Many of you felt the cold hand of death grasping for your soul and its left you sleepless on more nights than you’d possibly admit? Do you find yourself wondering if there are threats lurking in the darkness, or around the next corner, where before there was always safety in the normalcy of your lives? Perhaps you’ve tried to leverage your local fame and profit from it? Ultimately there is no doubt when people look at you that you’ve experienced something that they will never understand.

Regardless what you think many now pass through the Inn looking towards you already as someone who would be more a fable than a person.

Perhaps one of you has already considered….how long will it be before fate is thrust upon you again?

Just a note, since we’re getting together on Saturday, if people can make it earlier than 8pm that means we can get started sooner and play a bit longer.

Earliest I’d say would likely be 6pm to start since people would need time to eat at least.

Caught Redbranded!

Our intrepid adventuring group has finally solved their second conundrum, besides still trying to figure out why Half-Tusk never left the room after sleeping together with Splergle!

After going in search of Iarno for Sildar at the old Tresendar Manor the group quickly found that the basement of the manor was not so empty after all!

The local ruffian group, the Redbrands, had set up shop below. After a number of pitched battles, bluntly discovered traps, attempts to open some walls that weren’t f’king doors, and the party occasionally doing their best to kill themselves it was discovered that Iarno hadn’t disappeared, but was leading this ruffian group all along! (dun Dun DUN!)

Though Iarno was nowhere to be found a note left behind that plainly instructed him to be prepared for the group that was ‘working for the Dwarves’ and find out of there were any dwarven maps in their possession. Signed only with the symbol of a spider at the bottom it seems clear that your group was the intended targets!

Now everyone has returned to recover from their experience and briefly bask in the thanks of the small town for disbanding the troublesome group. The thought that the dwarf who contracted you, Gundren, is still missing looms ever in the back of your minds.

Given the discussions the group has had previously the following options are still available for the party to choose:

Orc Trouble!: The Townmaster, Harbin, is still looking for someone to head East to investigate trouble on the Triboar Trail. Travelers have reported bands of orcs near Wyveryn Tor. A reward of 100 gold has been offered.

Mirna’s Heirloom: One of the prisoners in the Redbrands hideout was very grateful for rescuing her and her children. She had nothing directly to offer, but did know of a valuable heirloom that was hidden and left behind in the town of Thundertree. The town was abandoned after undead overran it and she has never returned.

Cragmaw Castle: Sildar has encouraged your group to keep up the pressure on the local goblins. He believes Cragmaw to be the center of their activity in the area and has offered 500 gold if you can locate and drive off the leader. He has suggested possibly investigating the Triboar Trail for other raiding groups that may have useful information.

The priestess of Tymora, Sister Garaele, was looking for a group that may be willing to do a favor for her before the group went to Tresendar Manor.

Speaking to other notable townsfolk may yet yield more as well.

Where are your Manors?
Session 2

The group left Splergle and Tusk sharing their room together since neither of them seemed to want to wake up last night (Perhaps a bit of racial relations were going on???) and headed into the town. They spoke with Sildar in the Inn and took a brief trip over to the local armor and weapon shop where they informed a grateful shopkeeper of the goods she had lost to the goblin ambushes!

After checking in with Sildar once more at the town hall the group decided to go investigate for clues of the disappearance of Iarno, Sildar’s aquaintance, who disappeared two month prior. Before heading to the abandoned manor at the edge of town they were set upon by a group of the local ruffians in town, the Redbrands.

Once inside the manor they discovered it to be less abandoned as it seemed finding more Redbrands down in the cellars.

The group paused after finding a secret door leading into an open cavern deeper inside…

Phandalin Reached!
Lost Mines of Phandelver

Congratulations adventurers!

You successfully accepted your first job as a team and made escorted the cart of supplies to the small mining town of Phandalin. Nevermind the sudden goblin ambush, or the fact that your contact that hired you never reached the town, or the discovery of a goblin hideout that nearly killed two of your party dampen your spirits for further adventure, excitement, and the possibility of finally getting paid!

There are some details we’ll clear up from the end of our adventure last night given the early morning hour when we finally came to a rest. but for now rest assured that your characters have the opportunity to eat, rest, and reflect on letting Albus keep that crossbow…

Certainly things are otherwise well now that you’ve reached the safety of this quaint town…

Character Sheets

Ok, everyone should have their character sheet in electronic form now.

I’ve done what I could to verify everything, fill in any last minute gaps, and provide as much useful info on the main sheet as possible.

When you have time please add your character info to the site here as well. There are fields here for other items you may not have considered like age, height, background, etc. I encourage everyone to fill them out when you can. It never hurts to know more about your character.

I’m planning on finding some links to online information about the world we are playing within in case people want some more history to reference. I have most of the novels written based in this setting and a number of campaign books as well.

Yes, I’m a really big nerd.

Ascended Part 2!

We are now unlocked with all the features for the campaign page.

I’ll be working on transferring as much info as I can in the week and ongoing hopefully to help keep track of things.

That’s great, but since you’re not the GM it doesn’t apply to this campaign. Only a campaign that you start as GM. It doesn’t unlock all the features when one of the players becomes an Ascended Member.

I’ll pick up the Ascended membership tomorrow. Everyone will get access to the features in the campaign without needing the membership as well.

Jeff, why don’t you see if you can cancel/refund if you want since there was some confusion as to how this worked.

I went ahead and got the upgraded plan. You’re welcome nerds!

We’ve gotten off to a good start with character creation. We have our fighter, cleric, rogue, and wizard. From what I’m told we will likely have another cleric at least with our last player undecided. Given the various classes I’m surprised we ended up with such a standard makeup. This is a good thing though for a well rounded party.

We’ll be kicking things off with the Starter Box adventure “Lost Mines of Phandelver”. This should take everyone from level 1 through level 5, giving you a good taste of how your class plays. If everyone enjoys the adventure (and survives through it!) we may move into the Dragon Queen modules, or I may take a stab at a homemade adventure or two first.

I’m still debating on opening up to an Ascended account here which adds a number of features to the campaign site as well.

Looking forward to next Friday!
